2015 in review according to eYeka top creators

By Ekaterina Pashina on December 31, 2015 03:37 Community Life 0

Hello everyone on eYeka,

2016 is almost here and we hope that 2015 was a good year with great and happy moments.

We decided to ask some of you to look back at 2015 and share your stories about your brightest memories.

Let's see how this year will be remembered by some of the top eYeka creators in 2015 !

evgeniylg123:

In the early March of 2016 my wife and I await the birth of our son. But 2015  has already pleased us with a bunch of exciting events associated with the  upcoming birth: the first ultrasound, the first pushes, the choice of the  stroller and etc. And for me it's the best things that happened this year.

One of my best memories about 2015 will be a trip to Indonesia. It is truly a Paradise  with amazing nature and friendly people and a small ship on which you're  riding through big waves) We will definitely go back there.

All that happens for the first time produces a particularly strong  impression. And for me my first winning without doubt was the brightest  moment on eYeka during this year.

In 2016 I wish happiness, health, success and peace in the world. Actually I want  it not only for me but also for everyone in the community. And let family  and friends will be happy and healthy.

In my opinion everything you do is great. I hope in 2016 eYeka will continue to delight us with interesting contests.

In 2016 I'd like to work with different brands. They are all interesting in their own  way. May be I will highlight Downy. It was interesting to get such a variety  of briefs, which makes every time to look at the problem of freshness from  a new angle.

I will celebrate New Year in my family and in my country. As I say before  we are waiting for the birth of the baby in early March and so we did not  discuss options of travelling.

bary519:

The best about 2015 for me was the engagement with my girlfriend. I had also a realization that creativity should be worked on costantly so that you can visualize more things that will help you grow a lot. 2015 is special on its own because we intend to decide life-changing events for ourselves. In all aspects, personal/ professional/ creative life, I was able to communicate them all to put up a value for creative thinking and time management. Surely a step-up in adult life.

One of the best moments on eYeka in 2015 for me was when I won 3rd place at innovation product contest because I did not expect my entry will win and when a lot of my entry are shortlisted I thought it will win but when they announce the winner I did not make the final cut of winners hehe.. but its ok because every now and then I develop more my creativity, I will just try and try do me best I could and hopefully someday I can make it.

In 2016 I would wish myself: More happines, healthy life and nice things to come for me, my love-ones and everyone else.

I hope 2016 will be a great year for me as creative in eYeka contest and more innovation contest to come because its fun participating almost every contest in eYeka.

I love doing creative concept to different brands in eYeka but I like in particularly doing Innovation and inventing new products because I love creating new things and its fun and challenging developing innovative ideas even if its hard to think a nice concept every time hehe.

Here in Philippines we celebrate new year by going to the church and thank God for the wonderful memories for this year and hopefully another wonderful year to come next year, after that we go home in the evening we will have traditional family dinner with Roasted pig, or lechón is often the center.

laembrionaria:

The best about 2015 for me was... all the new great projects in my  professional career.  I will remember the one and only prize I had won in eYeka. eYeka was new  for me, and participate in the contest and to win was the best experience.  I had fun with the contest of Pot Noodle. I didn't win it, but I definitely  had fun with it.

In 2016 I wish myself...new projects to my agency.

I expect from eYeka new brands, new contests, a lot of desing to do! In 2016 I would love to work for Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Paco Rabbane, Chanel, etc.

I will celebrate New Year partying, having good food and good drinks with family and friends.

adrianzapatagarcia:

The best of 2015 has been my success in eYeka community. Years ago, my friends and I would joke about the idea of making a living through eYeka. In March I decided to consider it as a job, and I never could have expected such great results.

The best memories about 2015 were about leaving the last company I had been working for and the trip my friends and I took to Italy.

My best experience on eYeka for the past year was the prizes I won in the “Duracell Entertaiment Poster”. That contest really inspired me. I sent many proposals that I considered to be very original, and that the brand considered to be as well. I felt very proud about that.

In 2016 I would like things to go as well as they have gone this year. I have a 3D project in mind, so I look forward to making it happen.

I hope in 2016 eYeka keeps working with great companies as it already does. Of course, I would like to win more and more contests!

I've never seen a company from Spain in eYeka. We have many great ones such as, Telefónica, Mercadona and Santander. In 2016 I wish to participate in a contest for Inditex (ZARA, Bershka...). The brands of this group are excellent in the marketing and advertising fields; therefore, it would be a challenge to be able to give them a innovative idea.

We are a “big” closely-united family, so every New Year we have dinner all together. After dinner, the tradition in Spain is to eat 12 grapes, one for each chime at 12 p.m. on December 31. The younger people typically celebrate the rest of the night by partying.

cm92:

The best personal memory of 2015 for me were my vacations in Venice, which gave me a chance to discover this magnificent city as well as Italy. From the more pragmatic side – the discovery of eYeka, which allows me entertain myself and earn a bit of money. :)

Of course, as a French person I will definitely remember the attacks in Paris in January and November. For many people there will be a before and after the 13 November. I hope next year will be more peaceful.

My best eYeka memory is the time when I received my first email from Natasha in September announcing that I had won 2nd and 4th prizes in my first contest (Gillette). Another nice surprise was just recently in December when I learned that I was chosen as the first winner in the Life Protection Insurance contest. I was very happy about it.

In 2016 I wish myself to continue winning prizes and especially in a contest of video. :)

eYeka already works with great global brands, but in 2016 I would be interested to participate in contests from automotive brands, banks, service brands, as often the creative concepts can be really interesting for this type of topics.

I will celebrate 2016 on my way as I will be visiting my family which lives all around France. I would also like to wish to all eYeka team as well as to all the community members a Happy New year under the sign of piece and creativity.

Thank you to all the creators who shared with us their best memories about 2015 and their hopes for the upcoming year!

We wish you all a very Happy New Year and let 2016 be full of happiness, creativity and success stories!

eYeka creators presented on Cannes Lions Festival 2015!

By Ekaterina Pashina on July 10, 2015 08:36 Community Life 0

Hey creators! We are sure there are just a few of you who have never heard of Cannes Lions Festival - the world's biggest annual awards show and festival for professionals in the creative communications industry and advertising. This year eYeka had an amazing opportunity to speak at this event and the most amazing part of it is that we could bring two creators with us on stage! How awesome is that? eYeka’s session was “What if your creative director was 25 years old?” and the choice fell on two young creators, who spoke English and French and had success stories in eYeka contests. Together with Joel Cere, eYeka Strategy and Innovation Director , we had Nirina Ragomaharisoa and Charly Dheulin. cannes15   eyeka-flip-3   Nirina (aka niwina on eYeka) – a self-taught videographer from Madagascar and the author of the famous KLM Zombie movie – is sharing his feedback about this experience:
When I received email from eYeka with an invitation to Cannes Lions Festival I could not believe my eyes… I even took a sever minutes break to understand what was happening. Of course I jumped at this chance cause the opportunity like this one would not appear twice. During the event we shared our vision on the world of communications and what we would like to change as a generation Y. Our generation has different aspirations and motivations that may surprise some companies. Today I am still surprised that I was invited to this event. As most of the creators on the platform I make my videos at home with the resources I have at hand, at the same time having a chance to be connected to international brands, win prizes and from now on be invited to the best international events to…talk! And this is what gives eYeka its power! In short I want to sincerely thank eYeka team, Joel and my new buddy Charly!
You can as well see a video post from Nirina on his Youtube channel about this special trip! cannes2015c   Charly Dheulin (aka charly-dh) – a graphic designer from Belgium who won 10 prizes on eYeka so far:
"What if your Creative Director was 25 years old?" "Do we still need agency?" "What would you do?" This kind of questions can be scary! But when they give you the honor to answer them in front of the best advertising agencies in the world … That becomes exciting, don't you think? Cannes Lions is probably (surely) the biggest festival of creativity in the world! When graphic design and advertising is your passion, being there is like a dream… One of my friends said: "Some would have sold their parents to be there!" I haven't had to do it! Thanks to eYeka for this! Being a part of this event is great. But when you are invited to be on stage to give your opinion on your profession/passion and perhaps bring your participation in tomorrow's communication vision: This is awesome! Thank you Joel Cere and Nirina Ragomaharisoa for having shared this big moment with me! Thank you Joel for your confidence! This experience was inspiring at any creative and communication levels. It reinforced my desire to make a career as an Art Director/Copywriter more than ever. Maybe in 10 years, with work and luck, I may be back on stage but this time with a hope of a Lion in hand. See you soon or later Cannes (I'm on my way haha)!  Thank you eYeka for this dream eyes wide open!
Thank you everyone who supported eYeka in Cannes! It was an amazing experience which we hope to repeat in coming years as well! Talk to you soon!

An easy and simple way to express your creativity on eYeka!

By Ekaterina Pashina on March 19, 2015 07:00 Community Life 0

Hello dear creators on eYeka, Have you ever felt the frustration of having a bright idea for a contest but not enough time/desire to create a presentation or a high quality visual to express it? Today we have some exciting news for you as eYeka is introducing a new contest format called eYeka Express. This format is targeted specifically at Market Research professionals who are used to work with consumer insights. It will only apply to ideation contests, not video production. Such contests are shorter in time and have a smaller prize pool. For creators like you, it means that your ideas do not have to be as formalized as they usually are. You can spend less time working on it: as soon as you have a bright idea, jump in and participate! It is very easy: usually your entry will be required to have a short description of your idea and a key visual illustrating it, all on one single page. Voilà! In fact, the quality of your execution does not matter; sometimes we will even provide you with a template as a base for your entry. We believe it will provide all of you with more options to express your creativity, in an easy and simple way! Actually, some of you have already participated in Express contests among which were First 1000 Days, Beer Freshness and SilverNeedle Hospitality! We hope you enjoyed it and we hope to see your bright ideas in the upcoming Express challenges! 1000 days expressbeer fresh If you have any questions drop us a line by email to support-en@eyeka.com. What do you think about this new format? Will you participate in such contests?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

By Ekaterina Pashina on December 31, 2013 10:12 Community Life 0

greating-card min

Dear eYeka creators,

2013 is almost over and it’s the time of the year when we would like  to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It is also a time when people look back at the finishing year and remember its victories  and achievements. 2013 was a great year with a lot of amazing contests and bright stories.

Well this year,  you are once again the stars of eYeka so we asked some of our creators to tell us their stories of the year,  share the best memory on eYeka in 2013 and their holiday spirit!

Flojoart

Germany, Third prize in Schick Quattro contest.

Schick Quattro: Great submission, great inspiration for our brand! Real, approachable and authentic.

The whole success story is here!

For me, the idea behind the contest was very interesting. I prefer to work on projects with humor. And the Schick Quattro project was great for that. The main idea came to me while I read the brief. Then I had two or three other ideas, but I decided to go back to the first idea. Luckily :) Most cases, the first idea is the best. At least it is with me like that :)

Most of my projects are animations. First because I love it and want to continue to grow and secondly there are no limits. For example, if a shark is supposed to happen in your story, then create one  :)

Its already one year ago, but I still remember the day when I learned that I won a prize. Its always a great feeling when you get a price and that someone has chosen your project, your idea and your implementation. I think there are a lot great creators out there. It gives you the feeling of being on the right path.

What is my best memory on eYeka in 2013? Actually its hard to say, because there were a lot great moments. The meeting in skype was something special for me, to talk with some of the eYeka team members and some creators personal. Really Great!! But also that I get for the Pepsi Twist Contest a price for the fourth place. Actually there were only three prizes.

I wish the community a great, successful and creative 2014! I am looking forward to 2014, and again on your great, various contributions! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What I wish myself? I wish health, happiness and lot of love! I think this is the most important. If I have more wishes left ….. :) Then I would like to grow in all of what I do and to come closer to my goals.

I thank you eYeka for a great and exciting year 2013! Thanks for the great moments and the great support and of course for the prices! Congratulations on your great new website!

See you next year!

Best wishes

Baris

Turkey, First Prize in 2 categories in Carrefour Turkey

Carrefour: Fresh and powerful idea, which is lighthearted and very flexible across different media and different occasions and people.

His success story is here!

I am so honored to be in the eYeka community and be a part of the Christmas celebration. I wish the best for all of you, connecting the talents with great brands and experiences.

CarrefourSA is one of the biggest retail stores in Turkey. Once I read the brief which targets the Turkish family with great family values and traditions, the idea hit me suddenly and produced a very quick 3d animation just because there were only 2 days left. My idea was so simple; everyone from 7 to 70 years old can find something for themselves and beloved ones. And 20 year is a great success to be blessed with 'Turkish evil-eye'.

I was not expecting to win but as I got that mail, I felt so great, because I was not only the winner of one but two contests at the same time. My work was chosen to be broadcasted on national TV channels for the whole year, and every CarrefourSA store to be decorated with my posters and characters. In a couple days I have contacted the marketing department of CarrefourSA and they were really happy with the results after the TV ad met the public.

After 5 months I decided to join another eYeka competition for Turkey, and luckily I won the first prize again which completely changed my understanding of working for great brands. With 6 years of animation career, now I am a university instructor teaching animation, and two animations I made for eYeka give so much encouragement and inspiration for my students now because they know how to do it.

I wish great and happy experiences to the whole members of eYeka community with their beloved ones. And may the 'force' be with them forever. And the wish for myself is a Canon 3D Mark III camera with whole package of lenses, because I will be directing my first short movie for another eYeka contest soon ;)

Thank you very much and best wishes from Istanbul, Turkey.

Niwina

Singapore, Third prize in KLM Mobile contest

 Nirina

Niwina

KLM: “The creativity, out-of-the box idea, the use of the very popular 'selfies', the joke with putting the pics on FB. Really good job!”

Check the whole success story is here!

For the KLM contest, you could win round-trip tickets to Europe. I decided to participate because I am currently living in Asia but my close family is living in Europe, so it was a real opportunity to fly back and see them after a long time. So I thought about different stories until I thought about a zombie story. It was after the movie The Conjuring; I thought it would be funny to see a mobile-addict making a selfie in front of a ghost. I usually like to work alone and experience different roles in video production. So I did the script, shooting, acting and editing. I had a lot of fun!

No words can describe what I felt when I knew I won a prize. I felt proud to have achieved a project and I learned that when you want something in life, just do your best to get it!

I really appreciate the feedback from both eYeka's Team and KLM. To know that your work can be appreciated by professionals is a good reward. So thank you eYeka and KLM for this and for sharing the video!

Of course my best memory in 2013 is the KLM contest because I won a prize, but I also liked working on one of the latest contest: Color Transformation , for the creativity and storyline.

I would like to congratulate the winners of this year and all the  participants. It's always a pleasure to see other member's work and I am  really amazed by some talents and good work the community can give. I wish  you all the best for 2014 and hope we will have more and more interesting  contests!

For myself I wish to improve my skills in videography so I hope in 2014 I can achieve more and more projects! Either personal videos or video contests on eYeka ;-)

Jean-baptistesay

France, First prize in Shazam contest

Shazam: Your winning video stood out the most. Great use of Shazam assets. Clear, simple, easy to read – yet stylish and nicely laid out.”

The whole success story is here!!

I participated in the Shazam contest thanks to my brother who participated in another eYeka contests and thought I could create something good for this one. For my video, I started by developing a script enabling me to transform the XML file provided by Shazam in dots on the USA map. Once this script was ok, I worked on the graphics and the concept of the video relying on the graphic charter Shazam and the video already existing. I worked dozens of hours on the scripts, the graphics, and the method to recreate the video with another script and this within 5 hours as required by the brief. I took this challenge as a real job and I was rewarded!

I was of course very happy, it is very gratifying and winning €5000 allowed me to take vacation and launch other projects.

About the contest results, I found that other videos posted by other participants were better coded, some had nicer graphics. From my side, I tried to find a balance in order to bind both the development and the design with many more creative ideas. In the end, Shazam made me change a lot of elements in the video so the final video has very little in common with the first version I proposed for the contest.

I have a very good memory of the announcement of my pre-selection for the Prize. Globally I would say that the experience in itself was exciting which is quite common for this kind of specific work. I love finding creative solutions to meet incongruous briefs.

I wish all designers to win a contest but I also advise them to provide themselves with the means by multiplying their efforts. I also would like to tell them that these contests are also a chance to work on real cases that also allow them to complete their books, to find customers etc. ..

And finally I wish myself to have once again the chance to get success, as often as possible. To always find new motivation and develop other skills to have the chance to continue being self employed and at my own pace.

Beau

UK, Second prize in Philips consumer lighting contest
Philips - Beau and Matt

Beau & Matt (Beau Atherton and Mathew Kennedy - co-creators)

Philips: The video was light, funny and has viral potential, it portrayed clearly the benefits of LED bulbs.”

The whole success story is here!!

First, we were looking to make a fun video, with no budget at all. We've always strived for the comedic art to be found inside advertising, and we also like a darker edge. Basically, something that dances on the borderline of being banned.

We came up with the idea simply by sitting in silence and pitching ideas back and forth, till one makes us both smile, and it ticks all the boxes required by the brief.

When I first received the e-mail saying we'd won a prize, I was flushed with happiness all over. My co-director then left me a silent answer phone message, gushing the word "Yes!" out at the end.

The fact that the video was being used in any official sense, was amazing to us. It gave us confidence in our abilities as up and coming professionals. We read every comment and checked back often to read every comment.

My best memory on eYeka: Simply the laughs during the magic of post-production. It was difficult to make a single cut or record any sound, without laughing uncontrollably, just thinking about the final piece.

Some wishes for the community: Everyone can create. So Happy New Year to all who are creative out there!

For 2014, we ask for no presents, because some won't even be able to live long enough to turn one year old in 2014. We wish only for the global instatement of a resource-based economy, so everyone can live a life.

Marcs

Spain, Second prize in Coke first contest

Coca Cola: “Very touching and emotional, very Coca-Cola!”

Guess what! The Spanish national TV loved his story, and spoke about him in the news. Check this out here!!

It was not the first time that I worked for a great brand, so the experience was not new except that there was one slight problem: The idea that had to be created with my own means and budget. This usually limits the options, because you have no money to invest in ideas with many ways.

I decided to participate because the Prize was very attractive and I thought it was worth a try , and , it was also for the great brand Coca -Cola. Thus it was a good opportunity to do something for them.

To start working I usually think about two key questions: what means do I have? and what are they looking for ?  It is useless to think about an idea that you cannot perform or if you do not have money for it. According to me, something you cannot do is to waste time. So I decided to go for this idea as it was not very expensive to produce but it was very powerful and met all of the requirements needed. Moreover, shooting something real, without any scripts written makes it all more exciting. Many people loved the idea and that's why the Spanish TV shared the news.

The truth is that I was very pleased that Coca-Cola recognized my work. After a month of many effort working on the project, I received an e-mail from the eYeka team saying that I won, I could not get more happy with this news. It was an international contest and that made me very proud of the work done.

The best memory was my reward of course, lol. The truth is that the eYeka team is always super attentive, it's like a small audiovisual family.

Now I would like to wish happy holidays to all my fellow creators on the eYeka community with 2014 being full of competitions and big rewards.

For 2014, I would love that eYeka could grant creators with pre-budget money to thus enable few people to make videos with better means and better results. We cannot spend money on something we're not sure to get back. This system already exists among other communities. It would be nice to be able to get better recording equipment and thus better results for the brands who choose to launch a contest on eYeka.

Thanks a lot to all of you who accepted to join in our first 2014 project with this greeting card !! We wish you the best and many successful projects for 2014 !!
