Hello eYeka community ! We are very pleased to introduce you to our creator of the month Abhimanyu from India but he’s living in Italy where he worked. You might know him as Archabhi on eYeka – short form of “Architect Abhimanyu”. We hope you’ll like his story !
Hey Archabhi! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself (what you do, do you work, study, where you come from, what your hobbies, basically, anything you wish to tell the world!)?
I am an Architect/ Retail experience designer by profession, a designer by heart. I love photography too !!
I did my bachelors in architecture way back in 2008 and then went to pursue my specialisation in retail experience design. I always wanted to do my own startup, so after working briefly with a consumer durable company I returned back to my home town and co founded two design startups with my partner. We successfully worked for five years and then realised it's time to upgrade our skills and environment, it's time to be digital and catch the wave. If you don't change the way you work, you will be obsolete. Continuous improvement is the key. Those who adapt to changing times, definitely sail through tough times.
How did you find out about eYeka? And why did you participate ?
I have always been fascinated about competitions. I like to challenge myself and test my competitive skills. I found eYeka when I was searching for some competitions online, it was way back in 2010 and started participating.
You first participation on eYeka is back in March 2010, and then it seems that you stayed quiet for a while. What happened ;-) ?
Yeah I remember it for sure. After competing for few contest I felt I need to improve my skills to be more competitive and then my work commitments kept me away from it. But I always kept a keen eye on the competitions organised on eYeka. It's only when I came to Milan,Italy and joined my second masters course in service design, I decided to kick start it again.
You’ve won 3 prizes in 3 different contests over the last 3 months. Can you please tell us what makes a winning idea ?
There is no hidden secret. All I try to be original and authentic. I don't search too much on internt before hand. I always try to bring something new to the table and if the idea excites me then only I cross check on internet if it exists or not. I also believe in the simple ideas, fancy things don't inspire me.
It seems that you’ve special skills in inventing new experiences ? What inspires you?
Things from the daily life inspire me. I always try to look for inspirations around me. Being an experience designer it's important to look beyond my field of expertise and concentrate on very simply things. I always underline the key points and try to deliver my best, but sometimes I am too confused and get stuck in my own head. That's life !!
What have you been able to do or to achieve with the prizes you have won?
To be honest, I have not decide yet but yes may be something that enhance my skills as a designer. There are couple of things I would like to take..but I am not sure.
Can you describe eYeka in one short sentence?
An open playground where any one can make it happen.
Anything you would like to say to conclude? What advices would you give to new creators? A few words to conclude?
I would just say, nothing is impossible. Things happen if you stick to your task, no matter how. It is never too late to start again so keep learning keep surprising yourself. its you only.
I would like to say million thanks to eYeka for this unique opportunity. It will only inspire me to work harder now.
Thanks you !
