Good news! We now have the results of the Canadian Club contest
. I’m sure you all want to know who are the lucky winners ;)
But before that let’s see the comments from the Jury:
"Great concepts that provide some interesting territories for us to work with. Output will be used as stimulus vs final creative"
First Prize of EUR 8,000
goes to b-last
(France) with Canadian Club Dry
I know eYeka from the internet. I participe in contests to practice my work and try to understand the different way to make a film. It's a challenge and it's free and it's a big chance for us to have a reward at the end, or not... but it's a motivation and in my vision, this is the key for all things.
I participated in this contest... like I say, all that's arguments are links in order to see a work's birth.
I'm very happy when I found out that I won, it's a gratification. What is it better to know someone else liked your work?
My personel projects are video clip for friends, concert live, acoustique session, reportage and television too.
I work alone and sometime with a team, but for this project I work with another guy for the idea and the realisation and some friends for figuration and acting. We turn movies with no budget, so that's sometimes why we have beautiful surprises and scenery...
Thanks for giving the chance to every little creator like me!
Second Prize of EUR 5,000
goes to skhuters
(United Kingdom) with Canadian Beer
I am a long time member, must be about 2-3 years now. I participate in contests for cash money and because it's fun.
I participate in this Canadian Club contest because the brief was quite clear, I looked at some previous Ads and thought I could hit some of the same comedic notes, and I happened to have two smokde machines from another shoot around.
When I found out I won, I was elated, I have been doing a lot of shoots recently that cost some cash and didn't win, so this win was great and once again provides the maxim that simple is the best.
I usually create media with 550D and an 15-55 2.8.
I work alone, but my delightful girlfriend Rachael Keene helped out on this shoot too.
Third Prize of EUR 2,000
goes to MathewKennedy
(United Kingdom) with Over Beer
Myself and a friend found eYeka just before a year ago whilst browsing the internet for short film competitions. We have made three entries since then, though this is the first one that we have uploaded on my account.
Working on super short, concise, funny ideas has been invaluable in improving our understanding of the very basics of film making. Being responsible for every aspect of these entries - image, sound, editing, mixing - has given us a very detailed technical understanding of the different roles within a film crew. We aspire to direct fictional drama eventually, both as a duo and individually, and I think this diverse knowledge will make better directors of us.
We shoot on DSLR, and edit, grade, and mix in the Adobe CS6 Master Suite.
We get inspiration from each others silliness on long walks and aimless drives, and often end up browsing clips from our favorite comedies, like the Naked Gun films.
I felt great to win. I think the recognition is more motivating than the money. That someone else enjoyed and picked out our idea makes us really happy, and keeps us going in a competitive industry. I mainly think about the money in terms of how it can go towards future films.
Congratulations to the winners and once again thanks to every one for your participation ;)
P.S. We apologize that we can’t publish the winning entries due to the confidential nature of this contest. Thank you for your understanding!
