Media is still not free. Journalists are not safe in their profession. These two obstacles thwart the sustainable development of societies around the world. Every year, May 3rd is celebrated as World Press Freedom Day. It is the official day which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom; it is a date to encourage and develop initiatives in favour of press freedom, and to assess the state of press freedom worldwide.

In preparation for World Press Freedom Day, the eYeka community is contributing to UNESCO’s efforts to raise awareness about the importance of freedom of expression and safety of journalists.

Unleash your creativity for a great cause and claim a better world! Your challenge is to create a poster (either using photography or illustration) that shows the importance of having a free press and ensuring the safety of journalists.
