Singapore, July 21, 2010 –
Co-creation community eYeka announces partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive & Digital Media, First Media Design School and ADdiction, a student-run advertising agency in Nanyang Technological University.
eYeka provides co-creation, co-innovation and social media activation services to some of the world’s biggest brands and it is through these initiatives that the partner schools will be involved.
The company regularly launches creative calls-for-entries on its online platform (www.eyeka.asia) encouraging students to respond to real-life creative brief. Upon participation, the students not only receive grades for their involvement but also get a chance to work directly with the brands, win attractive prizes and gain visibility. To date, eYeka has awarded over a million Singapore dollars in prizes and has showcased some of the winning works in various media platforms worldwide, including MediaCorp and SPH publications in Singapore.
Last year, eYeka launched a Coke Zero video competition aimed at challenging Singaporean youths to redefine what is impossible. The contest attracted students and professionals alike and despite tough competition from their professional counterparts, a student emerged as a winner. Now 24 years old, Sherwyn Lui bested over 70 other videos to win the S$10,000 prize. His work was also broadcast on MediaCorp channels on primetime slots and news of his win was published in the Straits Times, STOMP and My Paper. His lighthearted animated work called “Life’s Subtle Possibilities” eventually became the 7th most recalled TV ad in Singapore for the month of August as published by Adwatch.
“These partners were selected not just because of the excellence of their programs and the high level of creativity among its award-winning students, but also because of their vision to nurture and develop young people with both creative and entrepreneurial mindsets.” eYeka CEO Alex Olmedo says.
Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive and Digital Media provides opportunities for their students to learn beyond the four walls of the classroom through their real-time teaching studios and various industrial attachments while First Media Design School is known for developing not just ordinary designers but designpreneurs, designers with entrepreneurship skills. ADdiction on the other hand is the first and only advertising society in Singapore to be wholly made up of and run by students. It serves as a platform for students to collaborate and create winning ideas in advertising.
With these partnerships, eYeka hopes to serve as a catalyst for student growth and encourage the future men and women of the creative and media industry to realize their potentials to the fullest.
