Help a spirits brand to be more socially responsible

19 June 2013 - par Amelia

Diageo Social Plus

There is something that has changed in the relationship between consumers and brands. Ten years ago, people bought products simply because they liked them or because they saw an ad on TV. Now, it’s different: consumers care about how brands act in business and the role they play in society. They want to buy responsibly and are sensitive to the social impact of companies. The success of the Body Shop, Patagonia or Toms is proof of this idea.

One of the world’s leading spirits groups wants to find out what a spirits brand could do to help build a better world, by supporting a cause intrinsically linked to a product story or brand positioning.

Come up with an original and totally new idea for a cause that a spirits brand (vodka, rum, whisky, gin or any other spirit) could support – a socially responsible cause intrinsically related to its product story or brand positioning.

Format: Presentations with pictures or illustrations and text.

How could we illustrate the special role that our cars play in people’s lives? What feelings and passions can the brand evoke?

NRJ_New TV Shows

Watching reality shows can be a lot of fun, don’t you think so? Or is it just me? *look around*

Anyway, I personally think culture shock will be a good idea for a new TV show. And yes, that is what was asked from you in the New TV Show contest: to create a new TV show idea based on human interaction with a dose of culture shock! :D

Here’s some comments from the client regarding your awesome ideas:

Thank you all for your numerous creative ideas! We enjoyed reading through all of them and will soon create an innovative TV program. All thanks to you!

Here they are, the 3 creators whose ideas have been chosen by the client:

First Prize of EUR 3,000 goes to LilianLopes (Brazil) with HONEYMOONS EXCHANGED

Second Prize of EUR 1,500 goes to LilianLopes (Brazil) with BOTH SIDES OF THE SAME COIN (yes, she grabbed 2 prizes!)

I got to know eYeka by searching on the Internet because I have a friend who is working for a company that have the same concept as eYeka and I was curious about this new way to create new projects. So I looked for other similar companies. I participated because I love to create stories and to write screenplays. I have a passion for all kinds of work that covers imagination. I am graduated in Publicity (advertising), so I have to put my brain to imagine and make up different things. It’s kind of a hobby for me, and I have done other works related to screenplays for videos and short films. I thought could be interesting to participate of an international contest and start to practice writing in English since I am going to live in London in September and I intend to work with screenplays and video production there.  So I thought it cwuld be interesting for me to start participating in contests like this.

I was overjoyed when I found out that I won 2 prizes!! There is no other word that could describe it better. It was nice to know that I won in my first participation in eYeka and in an international contest, and winning with two ideas chosen! Of course from now on I will be doing other projects. This worked out as kind of stimulus for me.

Third Prize of EUR 500
goes to gao (China) with One Dollar, One Day

I am so excited of winning this prize! I can’t remember whether this is the 6th or 7th time I participated in an eYeka contest. When I have time, I will check out eYeka website to see if there’s new contest coming up to practice myself.

I participated in this contest because I have always been interested in TV industry. So when I read the brief, I decided that I have to participate.
Usually I will think of different ideas before I sleep and when I wake up, the first thing I’d do is to create my entry. For this contest, I’ve created two proposals and decided to use one of them. Usually I work on my creations alone to participate in eYeka contest.

Thanks eYeka for providing such a great platform to showcase myself. Also thanks to the client for choosing my entry. Thanks again!

Congratulation, everyone! :D

P.s.: We apologize as we are unable to showcase the winning ideas because they are for new TV shows which have not been realised yet. Thank you for your understanding.

Refresh your skin with “the amazing foam”

11 June 2013 - par Amelia

Oxy

What does a teenage guy expect when it comes to washing his face? Obviously the product must clean the skin, but it is the refreshing feeling that is the real magic. Foam is the ‘magic maker’: the rich and creamy foam creates a refreshing sensation during and after use, eradicating tiredness and dullness and providing a gentle kick for the rest of the day.

OXY is one of the most popular brands in the male face wash category. It is launching a new facial cleanser specially designed for teenage guys. As you push the pump-action bottle, a micro-fine, moisturizing foam is produced. It thoroughly removes the dirt and oil from your skin as well as giving you a supreme refreshing feeling that you’ve never experienced before. This is what sets OXY apart from other cleansers!

Through a surprising and engaging viral video/animation, show teenage guys how “the amazing foam” gives them the ultimate refreshing feeling.

Format: Video/animation (duration: 30 seconds)

Make your loved brands better brands!

7 June 2013 - par Prisca

The relationship between brands and consumers is changing.

People used to only care about buying good products at a good price. Now they care more about how these products are made and how the brands behind them act for the greater good of society and the environment.

Consumers want “better brands”. How could brands change to become “better” in the future?

Pick one brand that you like (an international brand, or at least very well known in your region) and show us how it could become a better brand.

You are free to reinvent :

  • the products or services (new products or improvements of existing ones) ,
  • the experience (how people shop or use the products) or
  • the communication (the adverts, the events, the web presence)

Format: Presentations with pictures, illustrations and text.

In a creative and light-hearted video or animation, show us an unexpected and fun story about how a hairdresser working in a salon handles a difficult client and provides a solution that makes everyone happy.

Creator of June 2013 – urbansicc

3 June 2013 - par Amelia

A blink of an eye and poof! It’s June! Whoaa it’s really fast, isn’t it? Where did the time go?

Anyway, the first week of the month means it’s time for our Creator of the Month! :D

We would like to introduce you to Anna Kövecses or many of you have known her as urbansicc here at eYeka. She’s a Hungarian-born graphic designer currently living and working in Cyprus.

urbansicc_1

She entered her first online logo design competition 5 years ago and that marks the start of her creative career. Crowdsourcing competitions helped her to gain experience and build a great portfolio and she slowly got involved in a lot of different creative fields, mostly by guessing, trying different methods and simply by learning from what others have created. Today, she works mainly on illustration, branding and animation projects. But besides that, she loves photography as well as it helps her to capture everyday objects, people and places that later serve as inspiration for her works.

You know how some people get inspiration from music, books, people, or even traveling? Anna is one of them. She lives in a quiet village with her boyfriend and their little girl. In their free time, they travel a lot around the island or visit friends and family in Budapest, which is a super inspiring city for her.

If you have seen one of her video creations (like the ones here for Tag Heuer and Lux), you may have thought that she has had a formal education in filmmaking, but in fact, she has never had any! Video making seems like the next step from graphic design and photography for her.

My first video project was a competition on eYeka for Kempinski and my video won the first prize, which is a very kind memory to my heart. I’ve experimented with stop motion techniques and animation as well. Today I’m more into animation as it provides endless opportunities for creative ideas.. nothing is impossible :)

And having been creating such awesome videos and winning 17 prizes so far (and counting, I’m sure) make us wonder, does she have a team that works with her and how’s her creation process usually like? This is what she has to say:

I usually like brainstorming with my boyfriend as he’s a big fan of videomaking and my works as well. We make a great team when it comes to scriptwriting and I trust his opinion a lot. At the production stage, if I’m working with actors, I usually ask friends to participate and it’s all about teamwork; if I’m doing an animation, then it’s much more like a journey in my mind. Post processing can be quite tiring as it involves a lot of sitting in front of my laptop and fighting with deadlines but it does produce a hell lot of adrenaline! :)

urbansicc_2

To her, video making and graphic design are quite interconnected in terms of inspiration. She really digs anything Scandinavian, Swiss and German. That includes movies of Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg, Wim Wenders and Christian Petzold, graphic and industrial designers like Olle Eksell, Dieter Rams, Paul Rand (ok, he’s American). She also loves mid century modern architecture and furniture, everyday objects, children’s books, packaging, etc. “Actually anything can be inspiring as long as it’s simple, honest and functional.”, she added.

She doesn’t actually remember how did she first find out about eYeka as it was long ago, but she has been loving it ever since :D . She said, “I love that it’s the friendliest company ever; no matter how many bugging questions I ask them, they always answer me quickly and kindly. I think it’s very important for a crowdsourcing company to provide a seamless communication, and they’re doing a great job. I really appreciate how eYeka gives equal chances to everyone and judges all creations based on their originality and spirit, not only their execution. Finally, of course it’s incredibly great to work on exciting briefs for exciting brands. eYeka provides everyone the opportunity to express him/herself, to learn and gain success. The only downside for me is that sometimes it’s incredibly hard to wait for the results but I know it’s a complex situation and depends highly on brands and I’m an impatient person anyway. All in all, eYeka rocks and is worth returning to from time to time.”

 urbansicc_3

If you’d like to see more of her creative works, do check out her website where you can find a selection of her best works.  Or if you are curious on behind-the-scene of her projects, check out her blog where she shares sneak peeks from works in progress, personal photographs, and stuff that inspires her. She is also running a personal design project called Coloradore that aims to provide color matching inspiration for anyone interested in forms of simple posters she has designed.

To end this article, Anna would like to share some advise to all of you, her fellow creators:

Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things every time you start a project.

Learn from others but don’t copy them.

Be yourself, find your own voice and create honest work that you can 100% identify yourself with.

Be kind to others. :)

Thank you for your time, Anna. We are glad to have such an inspiring creator here in eYeka. Keep on rocking and creating amazing stuffs :D
