Designphil winners are here!

Aug 29

Remember some weeks ago, we asked you to create a new piece of stationery that makes the way we communicate and share information more humane, interesting and effective? We received so many excellent entries and Designphil loves your entries, Well done everyone ;)

Today we are delighted to announce the 5 winners, please find below some words from the happy winners as well:

First Prize of EUR 3,000 goes to vydra (Russia) with Measure pen

“I heared from my friends about eYeka, I found it very interesting, but I thought it would be very difficult to win too – so many talented people from all over the world. But I decided to try.

I am now working as a graphic designer, but I graduated from the major of Industrial Design. During my school, we practiced a lot in inventing new things, that is why the contest of Designphil was particularly interesting for me! I have been thinking about ideas for this contest for several days. I chose two of my ideas and created the images in a few hours. When I got the news that that one of my projects won, my joy knew no bounds! This is my first participation and the first prize I won in eYeka! Now I am sure I will participate more often ;) I am very grateful to eYeka for the opportunity and for what inspires and motivates me to create. “

Second Prize of EUR 2,000 goes to georgi_krastev (Bulgaria) with Fingerprint seal

“I am now working as a freelance filmmaker and artist. Actually I first studied Psychology and then I graduated from National Academy on Theatre and Film Art in Sofia, Bulgaria as director of photography. I have some experience in film directing, editing, photography and contemporary art. The reason why I chose to join this contest is that the topic of the contest (“Change the future communication”) is very interesting for me. I’ve always been interested in the future of communication and the ways in which it changes. Because at this stage of development, communication has reached its limits. It is cluttered with the conventions and there is real risk to be meaningless.

I was delighted to win the award! I was happy that the jury likes my idea and I got the satisfaction that my work is fairly rewarded. I think each art work has own unique story and each artistic process leaves great memories, that is why our job is different and unique all the time. What an incredible pleasure we have in life! I would like to share with my fellow creators that everybody can be an artist if he wants to be. Be consistent, trust yourself and be who you are! “

Third Prize of EUR 1,000 goes to Mrno (China) with Button sticky note

“I am really interested in the brief as it inspires me a lot! As a student, I am specially interested in different kinds of creative stationary. So I decided to create one for this contest.

After checking the brief, I first went to Designphil website and checked their products, to get a whole idea on what kind of entry the brand is looking for. Then I started to create my entry. I think to participate in eYeka contest, you must understand the brand well: the brand culture, the brand products, what is the brand expecting from the contest.

Thanks eYeka and Designphil once again for the prize, I am happy to see so many creative works from all the creators and hope eYeka will bring more creative contests for us.”

Fourth Prize of EUR 1,000 goes to gregor (Belarus) with Roll sticker marker

“I am a designer and found eYeka website by chance, then I decided to participate in this contest”

Fifth Prize of EUR 1,000 goes to roudoudou (France) with numescript

“I just finished my study in Web Graphic Design and I am currently looking for a job. I have been learning this for 6 years and I am really passionate about Graphic Design and Digital Art. I always like new challenges, that’s why I came to eYeka and looked for some contest to join.

When I got the news that I was selected as one of the winners, I first felt proud of myself and then I was really happy that I won. I also want to congratulate the other 4 winners about their winning in this contest”

Congratulation to the winners! And for everyone who have taken a part in this contest, well done and thank you very much !

ps : Due to the confidentiality of the contest, our client would prefer not to be published media. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Show Us Why Access to Knowledge for All Is Important !

Aug 24

Humankind has witnessed rapid progress. Globalization and the widespread use of new technologies have brought about sweeping changes to the way we live and work today. One negative impact of this revolution is the inequalities and division between those who have access and those who don’t, between the rich and poor and between industrialized and developing countries.

We want you to create posters that show why access to knowledge for all is important.

You probably are educated, with university or professional training. You probably understand, speak and write English and even another foreign language. You probably have access to technology including the internet. Now, imagine that you didn’t have this access and knowledge. What would your life be like?

We are looking for original and quality ideas that tell a story about the importance of providing access to knowledge for all.

Show mums why dirt is good

Aug 17

In life, you often learn valuable lessons in unconventional situations, especially when you are a child. Do you remember when you climbed up a tree to get the neighbor’s kite that is stuck in the branches? Do you remember how you learnt to create when you splash watercolors onto walls?. Or the time when you learnt to find your way and be strong when you got lost in a muddy park? The dirt and stains you get in these unconventional moments make for valuable and memorable lessons.

We know that some mums are not too pleased with their children playing with dirt and mud, but smart mums are eager to teach their child(ren_ these valuable lessons in unconventional situations, even though they involve dirt and stains, because they know they will have the most impact. They do not want their child(ren) to miss out on the chance to learn and grow just because of dirty clothes!

So today’s challenge for you is to tell us an unconventional and surprising story about how a resourceful mum creatively teaches her child(ren) an important lesson, through dirt and stains.

Format: Video/animation (up to 60 seconds), picture, illustration, photograph.

That was our reaction to your creative ideas about revolutionary creative tools! A lot of you proposed something that’s extraordinary and have never been seen before. So without further ado, here are five best creators in this contest. Each creator wins a prize of EUR 1,000.

Taking full advantage of the latest technology, your idea seems to have a high feasibility while at the same time contains unique concept, which is to create a platform where all music lovers can collaborate. Proposed idea contains the potential to create the new culture and broaden the way for people to enjoy music.”

I’ve been joining and winning insight competitions here in Eyeka since I become a member.  I could say that making insights or concepts is my creative advantage so I’m joining many CFEs as possible.  I first thought that this CFE is a tough one but when I imagined one of my passion, analyse its connection to the brief and get inspired from it , then I came up with a brilliant idea.Insight competitions here in Eyeka are the fairest of all. Prizes are also attractive so your creative thinking will be paid off. It challenges me more and it enhances my interactivity to different kind of stuffs.  Anyone can join even you don’t have a team. Mind is the limit… you’ve got nothing to lose in trying! Just be creative and think out of the box!

Second Prize
goes to docanand1 (India) with Tap the un tapped

“Your point of observation, which is to take full advantage of human brain capability via digital tool, is very interesting. Your idea is not merely about the alternative tool for human creativity but is about empowering people to maximize their potential by utilizing the digital technology. Your idea is indeed encouraging and interesting.”

I first came to know about eYeka while searching online. I have been hooked to the community ever since. Eyeka is a wonderful platform to bring out my inner creativity and experiment with ideas & give them a form. When I read the brief of this contest, I found it to be innovative and challenging . I kept thinking about it till I came about with this entry.

I usually note down my ideas on a notepad and depending upon how well they fit into the brief , I give them shape. I just keep my eyes & ears open and observe the things around me. I get inspiration from Nature and new technologies.

I generally work alone but if the time is less or I am getting creative inputs from other people, I do not mind working with a few friends. However for this entry I have worked alone. Though I have been with eYeka for quite some time, this is the first time that I have won. Now that the Jinx is broken I hope to win more often. I would be using the prize money to get myself some nice software & hardware to create more entries .

Third Prize
goes to JBach (France) with Extraits du Cerebrovisiophone

“Your idea gives a feeling of new way of enjoying music and emergence of new music culture. It is about changing the paradigm of both creator and receiver. If your idea comes into reality, the concept of music is not merely about listening any more and is becoming more about experiencing it via full body senses.”

A friend introduced me to eYeka and I participate in contests generally for the prizes. I decided to took part in this particular contest because I thought this was a fun one! Usually I get inspiration from my ownself and I work together with Sebastien Arcos. Our works can be seen here: www.jbach.fr

Fourth Prize
goes to skhuters (UK) with Ideatron

“Your idea may enchant men and women of all ages and will fill the needs for breaking the limits of individual creativity. It also has high social value in a sense that anybody can maximize one’s creative potential taking advantage of digital technology. It can be used as an educational tool and many occasions and various purposes. Clever idea!”

Normally I will create videos and I get my inspiration from people who do dead good things.

Fifth Prize goes to jeff_siang (Malaysia) with Eyeka Future Magic Mirror

“How technology can impact on a fashion culture and industry? Your idea added a fresh dimension to the digital dynamics that enhance the people’s creativity. Your idea can be applied not only to the fashion but also to the different categories such as a health-care, education, etc. Your point of view of using this tool as a marketing platform is also very unique. Thank you for giving us an inspiration.”

I get to know eYeka from a Facebook ad and I participated in this contest because I was attracted to the prize money! Usually I will get inspiration when I wrote romantic poems. Currently I am freelancing alone and sometimes I would work together with a group of awesome creative people. Last but not least, Honey Badger is the coolest animal in the world!

Congratulation! And for everyone who have taken a part in this contest, well done and thank you very much!

Our creator of the month is A GIRL: meet Karine Lima!

Aug 07

Finally we put an end in the men supremacy in our list of Creator of the Month!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, our featured creator of August 2012 is a girl! And she isn’t only beautiful, but very smart and so nice. Also, she was our first Brazilian creator to ever win a prize on eYeka, and she started off very well. She snatched the first prize of Create the next generation of Sunsilk’s combing creams (and it was her very first participation on eYeka)! So, please take a bow to our lady and meet this bright Brazilian designer, Karine Lima, by this interview we did with her.

eYeka: What inspired you to participate in eYeka’s contests?
Karine: I think eYeka’s co-creation proposition is very interesting and a unique opportunity to work with great brands. As a recently-graduated graphic designer that I am, it would be very difficult to me to have a contact with a big enterprise such as Unilever [The company that produce Sunsilk], for example. This relation that eYeka creates between creators and big brands is great and very motivating.

eYeka: Why have you decided to participate in this contest in particular?
Karine: Because I am Sunsilk’s customer, so I knew for what kind of product I should be working on! I love Sunsilk products, so when I saw the brief, I didn’t hesitate to participate. Also because I suffer from allergic rhinitis and combing creams make me sneeze all the time, especially because I use a lot of it! When I saw in the brief that I could invent a new perfume, I thought that it was my opportunity! But I don’t know much about perfumes though, so I created a new packaging which is more related to my job.

eYeka: What was your reaction when you knew you won the 1st prize of Sunsilk contest?
Karine: It was really funny! I was so happy that I started jumping in the design office where I work at. Everyone kept looking at me thinking that I went nuts! It’s true that professionally I receive more attention in my job. I also think that this will be very useful in the future because it is a great highlight in my resumé. But what I would really like to happen is to walk by the supermarket aisle and see my winning package displayed there!

eYeka: You are the first Brazilian to win our contest. What is the sensation of representing the Brazilian community in eYeka?
Karine: I’m so proud of it! I believe a lot in Brazilian design’s efficiency. When I saw, in my case, that it was possible to win the first prize, I felt much more confident in my work and in my competence to develop good projects.

eYeka: What are you plans for your future in both your professional career and eYeka?
Karine: Well, it’s been a year and a half since I graduated in Graphic Design. When I participated in the Sunsilk contest, I was looking for a job and working as a freelance designer. Currently I’m working in a graphic design enterprise and I’m loving it!

My work is grounded in research. Every time I receive a brief, the first step is the research, about the product, market, concurrence. I analyze all the information that I collected and, after that, I start to create. After testing the formats and colours, I get to ideal results and then I can make propositions to the client.

I have a lot of plans for the future! After I won Sunsilk contest, I decided that I would like to do some kind of specialization in packaging. My dream is get a scholarship in Japan, because I’m a great fan of oriental culture. I always use references from Japanese design in my works.

I’m already participating in another contest on eYeka and I hope I’ll be one of the winners again! LOL! And I’ll keep on participating in eYeka’s contests because this relation with big brands that eYeka offers is better than the prizes. Great experiences like that is priceless!

Thank you so much, Karine, for this amazing interview. We hope that you can inspire our creators and bring more Brazilian talents to eYeka!
And we will be thrilled to see more of your projects. Good luck for your future!!! :)
