My kids make me proud!

Mar 26

Mothers have different expectation about their children and they adopt different ways of parenting.

There are some mothers who prefer their kids to grow up at their own pace rather than pushing them too much. They don’t need anything fancy that claims to make their children geniuses or super heroes. They want things “just right” for their kids, no more and no less. Of course, as mothers, they want to be amazed and moved by their kids’ achievement. They want to feel proud of their kids, especially in front of other mums.

Use your creative flair to tell us a compelling and engaging story about how a young child makes a mother proud, in front of other mothers.

Capture the magical moment when something unexpected happens, when a young child manages to do something extraordinary to amaze and move their mother, and impresses other mums too. And the mother can see this as a milestone in her child’s development.

Format: storyboards (there has to be pictures on it, not just text), video, or animation (duration: 30-60 seconds).

And here’s what we have in store for you:

A total prize of EUR 10,000!

1st Prize: EUR 5,000
2nd Prize: EUR 3,000
3rd Prize: EUR 2,000

This contest will be running until 15th April 2012.

To give you some inspiration, you may want to ask your mother, sister, wife, or friends who have children and try to put yourself in their shoes.

Are you ready?

4th Prize (EUR 1,000): MariaFrauShu from Russia

MariaFrauShu: “I found about eYeka by chance and it was my happy choice :D
It was very easy to start working with you and every time I asked something I got a quick answer.

5th Prize (EUR 1,000): steventjioe from Singapore

Eyeka is a good platform. I joined eyeka quite some time ago and have participated in a few contests. Frankly speaking I once lost interest in joining more contests because I never win before, and I don’t know what drove me to even submit an entry for this COE. But now that I’ve won something, I’ll definitely participate in more COEs :)

Congratulations! And thanks so much to all the participants, you were great! ;)

Who have won the Kikkoman contest?

Mar 20

Kikkoman

Great news, winners of the Kikkoman contest have been elected by the Jury!

This contest is a complete success thanks to all the 120 participants and more than 100 videos accepted, thanks a lot for your great participation!

Please find in italics the jury’s comments and below it, we added the winners’ feedback.

1st prize of 5,000 EUR goes to Dosco (from France)
Great story – lots of humour, very recognisable situation and sympathetic characters. Bridges the Asian origins to the mainstream European use and encourages frequent use.
Please watch the video “Kikkoman for everyone” here.

Dosco’s feedback:
“Just amazing! We can’t still believe it. This great experience makes us to step forward to the next challenge. We’ve found eYeka in searching competition site on google. And we found a call for Kikkoman’s competition which made us want to participate.
Because as we are Japanese, Kikkoman is very familiar even essental to us, so we thought we have some advantages and actually we could have an idea rapidly.
For an idea, the story is based my personal experience when I spent some period in roomsharing. I was living in a house with 5 other frenchies and sometimes I found my bottle of olive oil empty or new bread package opened… For the shooting, we shoot in our friend’s appartment (man in the video) and went very well. They are not professionals but as you see, they are characteristic and played very well! for images we’ve short of some luminosity but the importance was to show an idea so we didn’t really look for the quality of images.

2nd prize of 2,500 EUR goes to Mateja (from Slovenia)
Simple, very clean and elegantly executed, highlighting Kikkoman’s versatility. Very catchy ‘Kikkoman’ song with lots of charm.
Please watch the video “KIKKOMAN For every dish” here.

Mateja’s feedback:
“I am very excited and happy about winning my fist prize on eYeka – especially since it was also my first entry to your online community. It is very encouraging for me and I’m looking forward to participate on future eYeka’s competitions.
After participating on a video contests on other co-creation communities as well as independent video contests, I fortunately found eYeka when browsing the web, searching for more similar opportunities. I first chose to participate on Kikkoman contest, because the brief was well prepared, inspiring, with clear guidelines – yet opened enough to give the freedom to creator’s imagination…I chose it also because, honestly – I really like Kikkoman soy sauce – I use it a lot in my cooking :)
I wanted to create a video, that would be esthetic in it’s simplicity. I focused on delivering the desired message to the public as clearly as possible.
Besides being a video creator, I am also a musician – therefore I decided that the ‘story’ of my video shall be told through a song: a simple recipe that makes every dish taste special and good. There was no live action shooting for this video. I animated all the images of different dishes rolling cross the screen, pointing out the endless row of possibilities on how to use Kikkoman soy sauce.”

3rd prize of 1,500 EUR goes to jimicuell (from Canada)
Good pace and positive, optimistic, impressionistic. Simple and clean, with multiple lifestyle images.
Please watch the video “Awaken your senses” here.

jimicuell’s feedback:
“I’m very honoured to win 3rd place in this contest, there was a lot of stiff competition! I’ve had lots of fun with all the videos I enter on eYeka, and winning a prize on my 4th entry makes me want to enter more!
It’s the only website I know of that has a bunch of video contests all on one site. I like when you can watch the other submissions. It’s really neat and inspiring to see what people come up with.
I was drawn to the Kikkoman brief because it was very open to interpretation. It gave me a lot of creative freedom to do whatever I wanted. Kikkoman is such a clean and simple product, I wanted the video to be as well.
I’ve been seasoning with Kikkoman for as long as I can remember, and I will continue to eat it for the rest of my life. Every time I pour it, smell it and eat it it brings back a flood of memories. I wanted to show a lifetime of memories exploding from one bite. I also wanted to capture the pouring and smelling ritual which is half the fun!”

4th prize of 1,000 EUR goes to pasenitskaya (from Ukraine)
Sexy, tongue in cheek storyline – with Kikkoman in new role as seduction tool. Good take with more masculine appeal.
Please watch the video “Kikkoman” here.

pasenitskaya’s feedback:
“It was a surprise – because the contest is open, and I looked through all the participants video carefully. There were a lot of very good artworks, too much :) That is why I read the text « Hello Pasenitskaya, I’m glad to announce you that you won the 4th Jury’s Prize of 1,000 € » four times before I start running around my apartment and screaming “Oh my God, I won”!
I always wanted to take part in competitions [...] and I found something that exceeded all my expectations – not a single, not two, but a lot of different constantly updated contests with different objectives (which should be read very carefully!). I have carefully looked through all the video available on eYeka (who did the video and who won the prize) and I realized that the judgment is honest (which is rare for Ukraine). I told myself: “I have many ideas and I can perform them well, why not try?”. That was the impetus to create an account in eYeka!
In summary, the task [of Kikkoman contest] was clearly defined, but correctly assignment is 90% success!
The most important thing for me in any video is human relations. I’m curious to observe relations between a man and a woman. In such cases I enjoy watching video and even can forget that it is advertisement! I particularly appreciate plot video. I remember ads with the story only (and then can buy the product at the store). And I create my ads in the same way (if I can) and eYeka provided such an opportunity for me.
On shooting the most important thing was … quickly done all the big scenes with the “guests at the party”, because the food was disappearing fast (especially with the Kikkoman)! Not all the “guests” knew what the shooting means, and the phrase “It is some kind of awkward party” became a hit, especially when one of the “guests” were asked to hold the reflector for 20 minutes on the outstretched hands while, other had finished the duck with baked apples and sauce…”

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks a lot again for your massive participation!

Who interpreted the best Mikado moment?

Mar 20

There were things in life that seemed to be perfectly made for a certain moment….
Do you remember? Well, finally we have found out who interpreted best the Mikado moment!

The jury has decided to award these three creators:
Please find the jury’s comments in italics and some words from the winners just after.

  • 1st Prize (2,500 €): drassy (France) with the work Mikado First Date

Congratulations! This was the simplest way to show how Mikado plays in your daily life!

I engaged in the contest because I believe that it’s a good way to develop one’s creativity throughout time and subject restrictions. I value team work. I’m quite lucky because I am backed up by a crew of young and talented technicians and actors, who enjoy taking part in my projects. The challange affects the entire crew, and it becomes a very galvanising experience. On an other hand I am an assitant director and I work with different directors in music videos or commercials.
I don’t really have rules regarding creative process, but mainly, ideas come while joking around with friends. I like to have someone in front of me to bounce over my own ideas, it ads a bit of fun to the process. And if the person in front of me starts laughing then I feel I’m on the right path.
The first date idea for Mikado came while having a conversation with my brother. We were wondering what was the worst joke someone could possibly make with a couple of Mikados. Then I took the time to write a script and draw a short storyboard before contacting the rest of my crew to ask to participate in the contest.

  • 2nd Prize (1,500 €): iblanco (Spain) with the work MIKADO MOMENT-chew penTIME

Your creation was one of the best through the rich approach you had of Mikado’s role : the best substitute for stress or boredom, within the work context. Thanks!

I heard about eYeka through Google web research. I typed something like “important design contests” and this is the first one that came out. Then I started to surf in and found out that it was about big companies contests. And I felt even more interested since the names mean much more, and the awards are better.
So I decided to list myself for the Mikado contest because the briefing was interesting and talked to me. That’s how it started.
When I read the rules of the “Mikado Time”, I thought: “When and how do I eat them?” … and I used to enjoy them when I was at the office because they are perfect since they don’t mess my hands, they are funny, crunchy and delicious. They are also very de-stressful, like pens, but not that boring. That’s why I thought it was a good idea to develop.

  • 3rd Prize (1,000 €): Madlink (UK) with the work Mikado time!

Your creation was very appealing thanks to humor and unexpected ending used to illustrate the Mikado break! Bravo!

I work in a small group of four people, creating music videos for small bands based in Scotland. I’d been told about eYeka by a friend from University and his enthusiasm inspired me to have a go at a couple of the contests running at the time. The briefs are generally very open and allow a great deal of creativity.
As a group we really enjoy comedy, and so try to infuse that into whatever we’re doing. The Mikado contest seemed to be in line with our sense of humour, so we were able to come up with lots ideas pretty quick.

We really enjoyed the process as it allowed our creativity to take centre stage and the eYeka website really inspires you to try something new and different.

Thanks again for this amazing prize!

Congratulations everyone and thanks a lot for your entries! :D

p.s.: Due to confidentiality reason, the client would prefer not to publish the winning entries. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Reinvent Voting!

Mar 15

Voting

Thanks to the Internet, we have changed the way we work, the way we buy and the way we entertain ourselves. But the way we vote has not changed for decades.

Casting a vote is complex and cumbersome: you need to register well in advance on the electoral roll to be eligible to vote, go all the way to a polling booth and often brave long queues to cast your vote through an old-fashioned paper ballot. No wonder that many young people do not bother voting and take polling day as a holiday instead…

Give us your ideas on how voting could be done in a more fun and engaging way than what exists today!
Go beyond the obvious, tell us a new way to vote, that allowas you to go to the beach without having to queue to voting instead ;-)

Check here the whole brief!!!

We have 5000 EUR for you to win!!

#1 Prize 3,000€
#2 Prize 2,000€

Your entry could be featured online by some media publications keen to show better ways to engage young people into voting and could maybe inspire future elections…

You have until 5 April to participate!

Important note: This project is only open to residents of the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, European Union, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, USA, UK.
