What made you want to participate in Sony’s My Dot Moment Contest?
I wanted to participate because it was an opportunity to share my dreams which came true. It really motivated us, we really did it!

What’s the inspiration behind your entry?
I really dreamed about the story. As soon as I woke up, I tried to remember my dream, wrote it down, and visualized it.

What things do you enjoy about eYeka and what are some things which you hope could be improved on/added in the future?
I really enjoyed the opportunity to express yourself and share whatever you made. I hope someday we can have a workshop program or course for the winners. So we can always develop and share our knowledge.

Any advice to your fellow aspiring filmmakers/animators?
I’m not smart enough to give any advice. But what can I share from my thought is.. Keep dreaming, Keep inspired, and always do something, No matter what.

20 days left for your Flashmobs and the 6500€ up for grabs!

Mar 23

For the celebration of Kickers’ 40th birthday, the brand needs you to make some noise and launch the invasion of the red and green!

The videos must be happenings & flash mobs: they have to be spontaneous, authentic performances that actively engage the public (the public can also be extras) or the surrounding environment. (don’t hesitate to google the terms happenings & flashmobs for example videos ;) here’s a small list to give you ideas:

All-Girl Team Reigns Supreme in Animation Contest

Mar 15

This all-girl trio were among the victors to walk away with a USD 1,000 prize in the recent Die-logs video/animation competition launched by the Lien Foundation.

Tell us about your team
Well, we’re 3 animation students currently pursuing our diploma. We’re 3 odd balls who like to experiment with different mediums and different style of animation.

Team Onemoredrop

What made you want to participate ‘Dielogs’?
It was a good opportunity to challenge ourselves and our creativity. And such opportunity isn’t easy to come by. We were also interested in sharing our thoughts and opinion about the topic ‘Death’ and also how others perceive death.

What’s the inspiration behind your entry?
Our inspiration all came from our own personal experience and our perception of death. The final animation was the combination of all our experience and perception of death thru our relatives and family members.

What things do you enjoy about eYeka and what are some things which you hope could be improved on/added in the future?
The people there are really friendly! They are very approachable and they consistently urge us to go on and encourage us. And they have a really nice workplace! Everything seems really good really (:

Any advice to your fellow aspiring animators?
Practice and practice and more practice. IDEAS ARE EVERYWHERE! After all it’s bringing your ideas to life! Lastly, don’t be afraid to express yourself thru animation! ;)

Here come the results of the Degré7 contest!

We received a lot of submissions for the fist summer collection of the brand. But there is only one winner, and the jury chose babate for his concept. You will find it on this page. Congrats to him! He wins 2500€ and will meet the Degré7 team very soon in France.

Francois Gadrey, Degré7′s CEO, wanted to congratulate the winner himself, and explain the jury’s choice:

“We really appreciated his graphic approach. We can feel the fluctuation of the body (with the different actions) and the spirit (with the meditation standing). In short, we can feel in these humans are always thinking or acting. We liked the colors, the sobriety with the very coloured backgrounds and the monochromic shadow.”

Congratulations ;)

Update on the Piaget Brief

Mar 05

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your interest in the Piaget contest. We would like to inform you that there are important changes on the Piaget competition. Unfortunately, Piaget’s event at Place Vendome is cancelled due to legal reasons and as such, we have no choice but to amend the brief which was originally to create a video around the keywords “Piaget, Place Vendome and Celebration”.

This is a very difficult decision as we understand that many of you have started working on the existing brief and have put in a lot of effort. We’ve tried our best to avoid any changes but the circumstance makes it unavoidable.

For all those who submitted their entries in time for the Early Bird deadline, we will update you on Monday (8 March 2010). Meanwhile, the revised brief is currently being developed so please stay tuned for more updates! Again, please accept our sincerest apologies.

Sorry once again,

Nicolas
